Major Moscow's Assaults Cut Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities under attack in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have faced escalating attacks in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and dealt with interruptions to water systems, per reports from local authorities.

Simultaneously, a young boy was killed in a different assault in the southeastern region in the southern area, according to local officials.

Russian forces has escalated strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "substantial measures" from allies to apply pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but firm measures - from the United States, European nations and the major economies - in supplying protection systems and enforcing restrictions," mentioned in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and several dozen missiles attacked the country's power systems, labeling such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were working to restore power.

A series of attacks hit electrical systems and civilian homes in the capital.

Multiple people injured in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the urban area experienced significant strikes throughout the evening. A young boy died and three other people were hurt.

The attacks follow evenings of bombing campaigns in the territory, portions of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is on alert for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to detect.

Government officials told the media that Moscow was intentionally trying to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already impacting fuel infrastructure.

He said energy workers and officials were bracing for further attacks.
